A company was installing a new server in our lab and all computers internet (both ethernet and wifi) on ubuntu is down the day after(windows works fine, my laptop dualboot into windows and both Ethernet and wifi works).
First, the old port naming eth*
has been replaced by network names enp**s*
.
Secondly, I tried restarting network interface on my laptop(Dell Inspiron 15 7000) using sudo ifdown -a
and sudo ifup -a
and it worked only temporarily. I would have to do it again every unknown interval of time.
We have another Ubuntu Desktop in the lab which I had to use sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager.service
instead(randomly, i have to try a few times). The problems seems similar but solution was slightly different.
